THE JEAN-CHARLES GIRARD-MADOUX’S WINE ESTATE IN CHIGNIN – SAVOIE
The girard-madoux family
has been, for a long time, the owner of a wine estate in the commune of Chignin chef lieu, south-east of Chambéry in Savoie. The estate was sold in 1976. The vines only left the family for a few decades, until Jean-Charles Girard-Madoux received training to learn the trade of winemaker.
His studies in beaune
And his apprenticeship at Patrice Rion's vineyard, in Burgundy, ignited a passionate about wine and vineyard work. In 2006, one month after the end of his BTS in viticulture-oenology, Jean-Charles Girard-Madoux bought the vineyard to recreate the estate. It then consists of 2.5 hectares of vines planted by his grandparents.
SINCE, THE ESTATE HAS SPREADED OVER 6.5 HECTARES, WHERE THE JACQUÈRE, MONDEUSE, ROUSSANNE AND GAMAY GRAPES COMBINE.
